Catherine Orchard is a director and photographer whose work has a strong sense of design, curiosity, and warmth. She brings imagination and practicality to solving creative problems, combining a stylized aesthetic with an intuitive, nuanced tone.
An experienced interviewer, she intentionally places effort on a production process that represents authentic stories thoughtfully through the lens of the story and brand.
As interested in the signifiers of imagery as the image itself, she studied a combination of anthropology, semiotics, and art. She holds a BA in Media, Society, and the Arts from Purchase College and an MA in Illustration from FIT. Her professional experience in film began with an internship for PBS documentary producers on The Persuaders, which deconstructed a shift in the way advertising tells stories.
She is currently working on a verite documentary about wild horses, humans and their relationship to public land.
She divides her time between New York City and Los Angeles.
